Vitamin Supplements for teenagers

After the most sensitive part in a human’s life, being the infant stage, the next most sensitive stage where the body almost churns and tunes itself is during the teenage. Our mind is so tuned that only in this age, it would have an affinity to try and search all the available options in food items and lifestyle. Being a teenager, one wouldn’t know or realize the importance of nutrient rich food while the only concern would be to fill the stomach and keep going.

So what might be the signs of low nutrient content during teenage? There are some important ones worth discussing.

Acne – the sign of hormonal stress

One of the most common signs of low nutrient content in body during teenage is the popping up of acne on the face. While most of the teenagers think and ponder about the type of brand or cream to use to wash away the acne, there are very less teenagers who really think the way to prevent the occurrence. Basically arriving due to hormonal stress, acnes may spread up and irritate much if not treated properly. So as a matter of fact, this needs a proper prevention rather than cure.

Some of the vitamins which help in fighting acnes and pimples during teenage are zinc, vitamin b6, chromium and vitamin A. The basic way in which acnes work is that, when the hormonal secretion by the testosterones block the production of keratin, fibrous proteins, and sebum, it results in acne pimples and blackheads.

So the best way to tackle this is to have a good supply of these nutrients especially during the teenage as it helps a lot in arresting the popping up of acnes. So how will that really work?

To start with, zinc is a very important nutrient which becomes less in amount especially during the age duration from 13 – 16. According to a medical survey, it has been found that a teenager typically needs about 40-45 mg of zinc everyday to maintain a proper balance and also to avoid the popping up of acne and pimples.

With regard to chromium, it is basically required in a good amount everyday to maintain a balance in sugar breakdown to energy production. A proper amount of chromium everyday will ensure good glucose production and break down of sugar in the body. A good amount of chromium supply to the body is around 200 – 250 mg per day which sounds to be a large amount when compared to other nutrients for teenagers.

Vitamin B6 is yet another important vitamin which basically helps in a great way to break down the hormones in the liver.

For teenagers who have more tension in their study environment and for those who get easily tensed and short-tempered, vitamin B6 ensures a proper balance and stops the mood swinging process altogether. It also helps in arresting the pop up of acnes and pimples. A proper supply of vitamin B6 is around 30 – 35 mg per day for the teenagers.
