What is it?
Acid reflux is the burning sensation that one feels in the throat after having a heavy meal or some may suffer it even without eating anything. So the next time you suffer from that burning sensation you have a reason to be worried as you might start snoring at night when you r in deep sleep. Snoring and acid reflux are actually connected to each other more deeply than many people think. The medical condition of acid reflux can be very uncomfortably, painful and really unbearable. Esophagus is the most severely affected part in the case of a person suffering from acid reflux. Snoring and acid reflux are grave problems then they seem to be. Acid reflux has many severe effects on the body which are often devastating so adequate measures should be taken against it.
How does it happen?
The backup of acid in the stomach and the throat is the principal cause of acid reflux. It normally causes a sour and a bitter taste and that normally happens between 30 to 60 minutes after having your food. This is mainly caused by being in a prone position, which makes way for the acid and undigested food particles back through the esophagus. As a result, the backup acid affects breathing and causes the person to snore. This is one of the main reasons for snoring and acid reflux connection.
How to prevent it?
Some wise old folks always said that prevention is always better than cure. So it would always be preferable to nip the problem in the bud itself by taking enough of preventive measures to thwart acid reflux. Of course there are counter medications which are taken by people when the reflux amount flares. People who are around you while you are asleep won’t like you snoring and disturbing them. So it would be better to take measure to stop it. There are many medicines available in the stores to counter acid reflux. Another way of countering it is following changes in your diet. Snoring and acid reflux can be effectively prevented and avoided by making some lifestyle changes. One should avoid eating spicy and heavy food like read meat and oils etc these foods are high on acid level. Tobacco, beer, coffee have low ph levels of about 2-2.5 (highly acidic). Even fruits containing citric acid can help in it as they have an alkaline effect on the stomach which helps in neutralizing the acids in the stomach.
